The challenge
APE is a roughly 70-person manufacturer with no sales or marketing team. Customers value the company for personalized service and in-depth expertise, and APE’s first three customers are still with them today, speaking to the trust and respect they’ve earned in the market. For thirty-five years reputation and referrals brought in the work, and buyers who changed companies brought APE with them.
Buyers who’d never heard of APE were searching Google and asking AI for PCB assemblers near Chicago, and screening on certifications long before they’d make contact. Everything they wanted to check already existed inside the business. AS9100D, ITAR registration, ISO 9001, turnkey builds, conformal coating, cable harnesses, and decades of answers to the questions buyers ask. It just wasn’t anywhere they could find it.
The solution
Write articles about the work APE wants to quote
Articles on contract electronic manufacturing, complete turnkey builds, conformal coating and cable harnesses, drawn from what the team knows and aimed at the aerospace, defense and medical buyers APE wants to quote.
Turn certifications into answers buyers evaluate new suppliers on
AS9100D, ITAR and ISO 9001 decide which suppliers make a buyer’s shortlist. Each became a topic, with articles answering the questions buyers type, from ITAR compliance to offshore versus domestic assembly.
Publish content on the website and examine the impact
James approves every article. Glowtify’s team structures, writes and publishes it, then tracks in Search Console and GA4 where APE ranks, and monitors weekly where it’s named across ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini.
The results
The first quote opportunities came through the website in late July. Over the eight weeks that followed, the site produced eight times the quote requests it had in the eight weeks before, and APE settled into at least one a week. Referrals still bring work in, but they’re no longer the only thing that does.
Those inquiries come from buyers who were already looking for exactly what APE builds, and who now find it. Thirteen technical articles put the company in front of them, each one built around what the team knows and the questions buyers type. APE ranks on page one for “pcb assembly near me,” “precision electronics manufacturing” and “offshore pcb assembly,” and sits at position 3.3 on a question about ITAR compliance, while ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini all name APE when a buyer asks them to compare nearby electronics manufacturers. Organic clicks grew 179% between August and September.
None of this is really about traffic. What changed is how prospective customers find APE in the first place. The expertise was always in the building; now it’s out where buyers are looking, and it brings in new work every week without APE hiring a marketer to make that happen.
The new volume of quote requests we now have from our website is the best it’s been in 10 years.
