Why we built Glowtify

We just raised $3.4 million in seed funding to keep building toward a simple goal: make marketing easier, faster, and more connected for small ecommerce teams. This post isn’t about the investors or the press release—it’s about why we started Glowtify in the first place so that you can see where we come from, and where we’re going.

We spent 10 years watching 300 brands wrestle with the same challenge

Before Glowtify, my co-founders and I ran an ecommerce marketing agency for over a decade. We worked with more than 300 brands, each with a great story to tell, and watched them all struggle with the same thing: building a brand in the digital era is hard.

Here’s what that looks like in practice. Every week, you need fresh email campaigns, social posts for multiple platforms, blog content, product updates, and each piece requires brainstorming, research, and approvals. But your insights are fragmented across analytics tools, customer feedback channels, and sales data. So before you even write a single line of copy, you’re hunting through dashboards trying to figure out what to say. It’s exhausting. And it eats up the hours you’d rather spend on strategy, partnerships, or actually creative work.

The marketing tech stack exploded to try and solve this. Tools promised to connect every data point and make things easier, but the promise never landed. More tools just meant more dashboards to check, more logins to remember, more places where things could fall through the cracks. Marketing stopped being creative and started feeling like admin work—even for the creative folks.

That’s the trap we’ve been stuck in for ~15 years: over-indexing on data, under-indexing on creativity. We built systems that made us faster at tracking, but not better at building brands that actually resonate. AI changes that equation. Instead of adding another dashboard to check, it can pull insights together and use them to fuel the creative process—not get in its way. Data becomes a guide, not a gatekeeper.

We started asking ourselves: What if we could remove the martech barrier to launching campaigns the same way Shopify removed the technical barrier to launching stores?

The third wave of martech

I call the moment we’re in now the third wave. The first wave was all about pure data: tracking everything, optimizing everything, and losing the creative soul in the process. The second wave tried to bring creativity back, but it was fragmented because so many things lived across different platforms.

Now, we’re in the third wave, where AI bridges the gap. You can connect data with creativity, turn insights into action, and do it many times a day instead of once a month. Small teams can finally move at the speed of big ones, without the overwhelm and losing their story along the way.

Here’s what pushed us to build Glowtify: brands would come to us without a clear USP, without defined marketing goals, without knowing what they actually needed to do. We’d help them figure out the strategy—set goals, build recommendations, map out how to achieve them. And then we’d watch them struggle to execute any of it.

The problem wasn’t the strategy. It was that even a great plan is worthless if there’s no one to actually execute it. Small teams would have the roadmap, but they’d drown trying to coordinate assets, chase approvals across Slack threads, and manually publish to four different platforms. The chaos ate the strategy alive.

So we built the tool that would bridge that gap—something that helps you set the strategy and execute it without needing a team of five.

Building the tool we wished we had

Our first prototype was simple: a unified marketing calendar that didn’t just track campaigns across all channels, it suggested them. By linking brand goals, product catalogs, and key dates, it could recommend what to do next; taking the ideation burden off overwhelmed teams.

Then we built what became our core technology: “Business DNA.” It’s a structured intelligence layer that pulls together your brand voice, tone, and visual identity with your strategic goals and live data from your ecommerce and marketing platforms. Instead of generic AI suggestions, the Business DNA uses what it knows about your customers, your product catalog, and your objectives to recommend ideas that actually make sense for your business. It’s the engine that powers everything.

Finally, we added an executional layer: the ability to create and publish multi-channel content all from within the same platform. Glowtify suddenly became a marketing command center, with strategy, planning, and publishing all in one place. A two-person team could suddenly operate like five, without hiring anyone. Brands using Glowtify have seen their marketing output quadruple while staying on-brand.

Bringing back the joy of marketing

There’s a moment in every demo that I live for. We pull up a brand’s calendar, and Glowtify starts suggesting campaigns. Not generic templates. Ideas that actually fit their products, their audience, their upcoming launches. You can see it in their face: Wait, it knows my business?

Then we show them how it creates the content. Email copy, social captions, blog drafts, all in their brand’s voice. And how they can push it across every channel from the same place. That’s when jaws drop. Someone usually says, “You’re telling me I can go from ‘we need a Valentine’s campaign’ to hitting send in an hour?”

Yes. That’s exactly what we’re telling you.

In fact, that’s why our own Head of Marketing joined us.

“Marketing teams are constantly stretched thin. I’ve led them, I’ve felt it,” says Daniel Becker, our Senior Director of Marketing. “I’ve used plenty of AI tools over the years. They help with writing or editing, but they don’t solve the real problem: figuring out what to create in the first place, then actually getting it live across multiple channels. At big companies, you usually have more people or resources to connect those dots. At smaller brands, there’s never enough budget or hours in the day. When Marc gave me a demo of Glowtify during my first interview, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. That’s when I knew I had to join.”

Early customers like Peppermint Cycling have been able to ship over 30 newsletters a month while saving half their time on ideation, creation, and scheduling. Brume, a winter accessories brand, accelerated their marketing motion to make it four times faster by centralizing everything in one place. These results keep us going. They remind us why we built this.

The road ahead

We’re sharing this story alongside our funding announcement because the two are connected. This investment isn’t just capital. It’s validation that small ecommerce teams deserve better tools. And it’s fuel to keep building the platform we wished we had.

In the past two months, our team has grown from 12 to 23 people, focused primarily on engineering and go-to-market functions. We’re moving fast, but we’re listening faster. Every conversation with a client or marketer shapes what we build next.

Our CTO and Co-founder, Olivier Fradette-Roy, is leading engineering toward a vision where marketing tools actually talk to each other. The team is building agent-to-agent protocols that let Glowtify instruct third-party platforms based on the insights and suggestions it generates. The Brand DNA won’t just live in Glowtify. It’ll follow marketers into the tools they already use daily, bringing sharper recommendations and smarter execution wherever they work. The goal is simple: save marketers even more time so they can focus on work that actually matters.

Glowtify isn’t here to replace marketers or automate creativity. It’s here to remove the friction (the data hunting, the platform juggling, the manual execution) so small teams can focus on what actually matters: running their store, building partnerships, telling stories, and creating the kind of brand people remember.

We’re building for the small teams who punch above their weight. The ones doing five jobs at once and still finding time to care about brand consistency. Brands like those inspire us to build better every day.

If you’re an e-commerce brand and any of this resonates with you, we’d love to talk and show you how Glowtify can help your team ship more marketing that actually moves the needle. Book a demo
